CNY Arts Grant Awardees: Onondaga County Tier 3 – 2025

The following organizations received 2025 Tier 3 grant awards.

  • JAMS Funk Fest 2k25 I $10,000
    1980s national gold/platinum RnB/Funk recording artists (JT Taylor of Kool & the Gang) headline this day-long festival at Chevy Court of the NY State Fair. Openers feature local and regional bands and youth performers. Caters to the tastes of those who love funky music. All are welcome.
  • 40th Anniversary Concerts: “All My Relations” and “Homecoming” I $9,500
    In 2025 we’re celebrating a milestone anniversary with songs, philosophies, and connections spanning the last 40 years. Our Summer Solstice Concert at the Onondaga Nation will honor the Haudenosaunee creation story. Our Winter Solstice Concert, planned alongside members of Bethany Baptist Church, will recognize our community ties and choir history.
  • Celebrating Family Public Mural in Onondaga County Courthouse 2025 I $9,500
    At the Family Court waiting room in the Onondaga County Courthouse, the CFAC, a local artist, and the Syracuse City School District’s National Art Honor Society students will create a mural celebrating the diversity of Syracuse families and community connections.
  • The Folkus Project—2025 Season I $9,500
    In 2025 Folkus will present 16 live acoustic music shows, featuring a variety of genres—Americana, folk, bluegrass, singer-songwriter, and more. Folkus provides the audience the opportunity to hear high-quality music and discover new artists and cultivates a sense of community around the experience that live music creates.
  • In the Center of the Crossroads: Standing in the Intersection Between Racism, Climate Change, and Memory. I $9,500
    Syracuse artist Vanessa Johnson will mount a solo exhibition featuring new fiber art. The exhibition tells the story of the African American historical relationship with Mother Earth and the challenges of Environmental Racism and Climate Justice.
  • Transformative Arts Education to Under-Resourced Youth I $9,500
    With a renewed focus and support from CNY Arts, TAPS will be providing free arts education to the kids at the Boys and Girls Club and YWCA.
  • Hispanic Heritage Month Annual Celebration I $9,500
    Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month in 2025, we will study a literature classic: Tartufo by Moliere, first performed in 1664. Via this classic drama, our kids will learn about literature from other centuries. The overall moral of the story is that things are not always as they seem.
  • Queer Cabaret 2025 I $8,750
    In celebration of Pride month, our third installation of Queer Cabaret will provide a platform for regional queer artists to share their personal stories through a cabaret style evening of performances in different mediums.
  • Summer Series 2025 I $8,750
    Festival of Music will present three concerts during the month of July/Summer 2025. Our series will include a Gospel Retrospective Concert, Young Artists Concert featuring young artists from our communities, and a concert highlighting African American composers. Young Artists and African American Composers concerts feature our Festival Orchestra.
  • Annual Civic Art Poster Series I $8,750
    Syracuse Poster Project brings together poets and artists to create an annual series of 10 civic art posters. Each poster features a brief illustrated poem about downtown, the city, the countryside, and—new in 2025—iconic businesses. Posters appear in the city’s poster kiosks, downtown, and other public spaces.
  • H.E.A.T. Program I $8,750
    The H.E.A.T program will offer all Elmcrest youth the opportunity to showcase their unique talents while empowering them to be leaders and primary contributors of all facets of a theatrical production. A public dinner theater performance will be held on campus on May 10, 2025 to celebrate Elmcrest’s 180th birthday.
  • Syracuse International Film Festival I $8,750
    The Syracuse International Film Festival’s 22nd year will showcase exceptional films from around the globe, host workshops and panels, and celebrate diverse voices in cinema. Events include the New Filmmakers Showcase, Honoring Outstanding Black Filmmakers, Kung Fu, Horror, and our 22nd Anniversary in October, fostering community engagement and artistic expression.
  • Downtown Farmers Market Lunchtime Live! Music Series I $8,000
    The Downtown Farmers Market Lunchtime Live! Music Series is a free outdoor music performance from a unique artist each week from June to October in Clinton Square.
  • Maker Faire Syracuse I $8,000
    Maker Faire Syracuse is an event that features local makers. This event is a family-friendly celebration featuring all kinds of making and creating from traditional arts & crafts to high tech creations. Our faire is the largest STEAM event in Central New York. This will be our fourth annual event.
  • 100 Years of Bollywood Musical + Diwali Festival I $7,200
    [1] Professional singers and dancers highlight the essence of Bollywood Music and looks at contributions from great artists in the various fields of music through the past decades. [2] Professional singer and musicians perform at ICRCC’s annual Diwali festival gathering, Diwali is India’s festival of lights and its largest festival.
  • Othello 2025 I $6,950
    SSITP is presenting six (6) performances of “Othello” from June 13 to June 22. All performances will be in the Thornden Park Amphitheater. All performances are FREE and open to the public.
  • Haudenosaunee & Indigenous Matrilineality Symposium I $6,500
    Rematriation is hosting an academic symposium at Syracuse University from 2/28/25 through 3/2/25. The purpose of the symposium is to share principles of Haudenosaunee and Indigenous matrilineal knowledge as a praxis to address critical global and national challenges. We will be hosting keynote cultural presentations, performances, and storytelling.
  • Party in the Square 2025 I $6,250
    A 6-week, free-to-attend summer concert series in Clinton Square.
  • Art Workshops for Seniors I $6,000
    Older adults attending program services at Westcott CC will benefit from creative art projects each month facilitated by local artists and crafters. Artistic activities enable older adults to experience enhanced cognitive and memory function, improves their dexterity and mental health, and reduces their loneliness and isolation.
  • Community Wide Dialogue: Taking Action Against Racism I $5,700
    InterFaith Works’ “Community Wide Dialogue: Taking Action Against Racism” fosters brave conversations about racial equity and provides actionable steps for creating systemic change. We seek to expand by establishing new dialogue centers across Syracuse, which will strengthen community connections, empower participants, and contribute to long-term, meaningful change in our city.
  • Syracuse Vocal Ensemble: 2025 Concert Series I $4,766
    Syracuse Vocal Ensemble will present a series of four separate concert programs, each performed twice, throughout 2025. Performances will be in January, April, October, and December, in multiple venues around Syracuse and Onondaga County. The Ensemble will be accompanied by various combinations of instrumentalists, including the Syracuse Orchestra in January.
  • Art Mart 2025 I $4,250
    Art Mart is a 7-week show and sales for local artists and crafters that runs from November through December in Syracuse, NY. It gives local artists and crafters a space to show their artwork and products that many people don’t get to see.
  • Klezfest 2025 I $4,200
    Annual Celebration of Jewish Culture in CNY. Emphasis on Klezmer music, ethnic food, and Jewish Spirit. Open to everyone in CNY.
  • CommUNITY Outreach Day I $4,050
    The FORCE CommUNITY Outreach Day at Cannon Street Community Center promotes community engagement through cultural arts, education, and training during National CPR and AED Awareness Week, June 7, 2025. The event features live music, hands-on workshops, family activities, and showcases local businesses and nonprofits, fostering unity, resiliency, and preparedness.
  • Restoration of Tommaso Juglaris Mural: An Ode to Abolitionists I $2,500
    This project will clean and restore the mural in the George and Rebecca Barnes Mansion.
