CNY Arts Grant Awardees Restart – 2022

The following organizations and artists received CNY Arts RESTART grant awards.

Cortland County

  • Temple Brith Sholom, Cortland
    Jazz On a Summer Eve | $3400
    Temple Brith Sholom will be hosting an outdoor jazz concert featuring two local jazz bands: Steve Daniels Jazz Trio and The JazzHappensBand.
  • Lime Hollow Nature Center, Cortland
    Music in the Woods | $3000
    Music in the Woods is a monthly, family-friendly, outdoor music series featuring local artists set on the grounds of the Lime Hollow Nature Center.

Herkimer County

  • Friends of Old Forge Public Library, Herkimer
    Songwriters Workshop and Performance | $1000
    Cosby Gibson & Tom Staudle Northern NY songwriting & performance duo will conduct a workshop about songwriting. Concluding with a concert for the public.

Madison County

  • Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum, Madison
    Events at the Historic Boatyard- History, Education, Recreation | $3750
    A series of education and recreation-based public-facing programs: A Franklin Classic Car Show (July), A Veteran’s Palette (September) & more.
  • Henry James Howard, Madison
    Madison County Library Tour | $3000
    This program will produce, coordinate, schedule, promote, & present a live show for local libraries across Madison County. The target ages are 2-10.

Oneida County

  • Rome Community Concert Band, Oneida
    “Music, Stories and Art” | $4475
    “Music, Stories and Art” is a five-concert series of free, public performances for children & families. Each concert includes a musical story & more.
  • Mary P. Murphy, Oneida
    Barneveld Three Art Exhibition | $3500
    Three Trenton Falls area fine artists will present their work in the exhibit “The Barneveld 3 at Unity Hall”. The event is free and open to the public.
  • Mohawk Valley Latino Association, Oneida
    Latino Festival | $5000
    Reconsideration Funds
  • George W Hendrickson III, Oneida
    Lost Fossil | $4000
    Lost fossil is a journey into a fossil record that could have been. A possible Cambrian period biota that may have been overlooked.
  • Oneida Lake Arts & Heritage Center, Oneida
    OLAH Center Teaching Artists Series 2022 | $4000
    Oneida Lake Arts & Heritage Center will be featuring different performing artists and/or groups from January to March 2022.
  • Remsen Performing and Visaul Arts Center, Oneida
    Remsen Arts Fest | $2000
    The Remsen Arts Fest will be held at the Remsen Arts Center. Artists will hang art in our building while entertainment is provided on our stage.
  • Oneida Community Mansion House, Oneida
    Spring 2022 Music Series | $5000
    Will bring 6 local, regional, & national musical acts to perform in the Big Hall of the Mansion House. Aiming to attract urban and rural audiences.
  • Elizabeth Szendrody, Oneida
    Through the Lens | $2000
    My husband and I create work together as artists, and enjoy collaboration with other artists as well. Together, we created site specific short films.

Onondaga County

    This season is 315 Ensemble’s official re-launch in CNY, after being founded by composer/sound artist Chris Cresswell while living in the UK.
  • Jennifer Gandee, Onondaga
    Celebrating Women’s History through Ceramics | $4000
    The “Celebrating Women’s History” project will explore the significant contributions women have made & how these actions impact contemporary life.
  • Fayetteville Free Library, Onondaga
    Cultural Heritage Concert Series | $2000
    We would like to feature live music performances at the Fayetteville Free Library during the heritage months.
  • Wacheva Cultural Arts, Onondaga
    For the First Time Ever | $4000
    A FREE 8-week motivational tour of African dance and drums lessons for children, their parents and the community.
  • Thanasis Theater Company, Onondaga
    Fugitive Songs | $5000
    At the end of July 2021, Thanasis Theater Company presented Nathan Miller & Chris Tyson’s lesser-known show “Fugitive Songs” at the NYS Fairgrounds.
  • Joined Artists, Musicians & Singers (JAMS), Onondaga
    JAMS Musicians Cookout 2k22 | $3000
    The musicians cookout showcases a diverse cross section of artists from around CNY in a outdoor setting. The festivities include live music & more.
  • Syracuse Shakespeare Festival Corp, Onondaga
    SSITP’s Macbeth | $5000
    In season 11 of presenting more serious Shakespeare histories, tragedies & comedies in June as a complement to our family oriented comedies in August.
  • Benjamin Ellis, Onondaga
    Stringing Together Sound: Music of the Contemporary Guitar | $5000
    A concert focused on presenting music by living and underrepresented composers. One of the components is the premiere of a new work by Chris Cresswell.
  • Cassandra Schmitt, Onondaga
    The Little Room 2021-2022 Season | $4000
    A programming series created to support the creative expression of individuals & communities. The team behind the project is a collective of artists.
  • Ronald Throop, Oswego
    The Pleasure At Being the Cause: Recent Paintings by Ron Throop | $1750
    24 – 35 new Ron Throop paintings exploring the idea that freedom is our ability to make things up just for the sake of being able to do so.
