Is your nonprofit’s registration up to date with the NYS Charities Bureau?
NYSCA is making a change to the method for verifying the status of nonprofit organizations applying for Statewide Community Regrants.
Starting with the 2027 application cycle: all non-profit organizations applying for Statewide Community Regrants funding must provide proof of registration with the NYS Charities Bureau, in the form of a Bureau filing receipt dated within the last 24 months.
We recommend:
1. checking your filing status now, and
2. filing/renewing your registration immediately if necessary.
Your NYS Charities Bureau registration must be up to date when your 2027 Statewide Community Regrants application is submitted, or we will not be able to move your application forward for consideration.
There are changes to the documents other types of organizations will be required to provide as well:
Libraries, museums and historical societies will need to provide:
documentation of NYS Charter by the Board of Regents.
Government or quasi-governmental entities will need to provide:
proof of authorization, in the form of a formal letter on official stationery, signed by the appropriate county, city, town or village executive, dated within the last 12 months.
More information about the 2027 grant cycle will be available shortly.
